  I'm finding the response to this story quite interesting. Little more than a century ago it was not unusual for pioneer families and others to sleep together in a single room. Privacy was simply not a part of everyday life - at least not to the extent that we insist on today. Parents had to be discreet, sure, but no doubt their children learned early on a lot more about physical intimacy between adults than we do today.I wonder to what extent our reaction to this story is being filtered through the vestiges of the Victorian era restraints on public displays of affection and related attitudes toward all things sexual.

  This is twisted, but I know a woman who was caught masturbating by her 7 year old, and rather than try to deny or defend, she decided to educate.   She showed her how to get herself off and explained how she would be doing it the rest of her life, may as well learn the truth now.   The problems are: The parents are divorced and the kids live with daddy and his new wife.   First of all...the parents should have known better than to be having sex in front of their kid. However,the comment that girls should not know about sex is the most stupid comment I have ever read. Knowledge about sex does not make anyone a slut.Having sex does not make anyone a slut. Where does this come from? I hope that all,boys and girls,will learn as much as possible about sex so that they can be prepared for any and all situations and not be ignorant to what is going on. Knowing aobut sex is not going to get a girl molested. We do not live in the dark ages anymore. Sex ed...it is essential in the modern world. Common sense is needed so you don't end up giving a live action lesson.

  This is incredibly weird.  What is the world coming to?  It seems that all you hear these days are people going to jail for outrageous and heinous crimes.  When it comes to sex, I think children should get a talk where they are free to ask questions, but doing what this couple did is going waaayyyyy too far.

  I have to admit i laughed at this on first site... It is like unto when I found out my husband had carried kids in the trunk of his girl friend's car, by 2's... all over town and 1 hour+ drive home.  and the police would not arrest him... cause there is no law against it.... and you think..   I was truly enraged. Especially to have a policeman tell me that, if it had been a pickup truck.. then, well, they sort of have a law... for me, I thought... "People in a trunk... hmm where do we see that?!? on gangster movies, right?" I must confess... I did a year of probation.. and it stemmed back to this incident.I cut the bastard off from seeing the kids on his terms.  told him to go to court and get a proper order... no more, just taking who you want when you want.. and he did it because... it was a 2 seat vehicle and there weren;t enough seats or belts.. nevermind that as the mom, I had to carry them packed like sardines in our vehicle.. to go anywhere... so, he goes to court... it takes him the entire summer.... day before school is to start: baking 17 loaves of bread... 36 =four trays biscuits.. and pizzas... and the 17 year old boy is building a house of rough lumber in the field,, as daddio had abbandoned him and left him homeless and starving.. etcetc.. daddio is coming ,, to pick up the 17 year old.  I say, "No way, " and DRIVE the 17 year old about 12 miles to rendezvous (locally) with... I come home.  next thing I know... the man is at the end of my driveway and wants to have a picnic with the kids.  and I say no/// so, here the kids are, screaming and crying... the house is overheated with bread baking... I had to call the police to get him to leave... but not before going down the driveway,... and I ended up throwing sand and peapebbles at his SUBARU (as my neighbor put it, I assaulted his vehicle...) and then I spat on him.. about 3 times.. and I remember him yelling at my son... "Can you not control this woman?!"  well, he had me charged with assault.. so I did a year of probation.

  The way I got the police to come:... it was labor day weekend.  And I lived way out in the bush.. about 50 miles from town.. so, police did not want to have to come out there and when  I called.. well, they said "Is he violent?" and I said, "No, I am." so, I think they arrested me cause they were mad that they had to come out there... and they saw him first.. and .. he wanted me charged.  that was upsetting too.  but, I count that as my.. one of my greatest achievements now.. the assault charge, i mean.  I do not regret that one

       Kind of takes the fun out the first time and isn't part of the fun doing it when you know you're parent's wouldn't approve.  Something tells me that this nine year old daughter probably would have figured intercourse out on her own within the nine year period of which she had yet to go before she was of LEGAL AGE.  HELLO!    My parents helped me learn about sex THE SAME WAY and I was only SIX years old... only it was by ACCIDENT when like alot of us get up at night when we are not suppose to get a drink of water and see daddy and mommy naked in front of the fireplace doing something weird and later on we put two and two together figuring these things out at our own pace.  Still, very effective, visuals and everything.     So much for proper etiquette when simply extending your hand (a man's hand) to a women was inappropriate.  In a deeper sense this act of exposing a child to one's own sexual experiences could easily be considered a form of rape upon the child and rightly so.    How RIDICULOUS is that sort of thinking, if that is thinking.   Some parents are just screwed up in the head. My ex's mom asked all his girlfriends if he was good in bed. I just wonder why she gives a flying leap if he is a good lover or not?   This situation just amazes me to no end. I come from a town that has the highest teen pregnancy rate in all of ohio. It was unually for a girl NOT to have a child before she was out of high school here. I have mixed opinions on this whole subject. I mean on one hand you should talk to your children about sex and educate them to the best of your ability, but to actually have sex in front of them....That just goes to far. You have to be a parent and act like a responsible adult not like your still 16. And to anonymous who said that having premarital sex makes you a slut....my advice to you is to grow the fuck up and be realistic. People have sex for one reaseon or another just because you sleep with one or more people before you marriage does not in any way, shape or form make you a slut. If you love someone and are with them, want to have sex and are mature enough to handle that descion than thats your choice. As long as your responsible about it, I personally dont see the problem. Life isn't perfect and neither are people. Sometimes you plan on being with someone the rest of your life and have sex with them, and if for one reason or another it doesn't work out that does not make you a slut.

  Okay, there is a long lost word. They used to use parenting, but 90% of earth has lost the meaning of that word. Lets have some comparison here.In high school, plenty of sexually active teens, had parents who pretended they didn't know what sex was. Child is too young to know about it. But still, their daughter had given more oral sex then she could talk about, and had more sex then she could count.  Other kids whos parents used the same method, were pregnant, going ot sex parties, or always wore skimpy clothing. Now:I was told about sex whenever I had a specific question. No, I wasnt given examples...but my questions were answered.  And sometimes I was told to wait until I was older. I was a virgin until I was married. Knowledge of sex isn't the problem. Parenting and education ABOUT sex, is the problem. If you don't teach them, school, or man-whore guys will. Get with the program, its not 1930 anymore. However, giving your child a live demonstration is messed up, but..lets stop all the cencorship if no one has noticed, IT DOESNT WORK YOU AIR HEADS!!!!!Kids are going to get horny when they are 14-16...and if they don't have all their questions answered...they are probably going to get naked, and see for themselves. parenting is the problem. PROPER parenting.

Considering we're all born naked, and I don't think the woman actually told her daughter "Spread your legs and we'll show you hunny", it doesnt really matter how you teach your kid about sex. As long as you're not fucking her literally, and you explan it properly. Because kids are going to learn it one of two ways (unless they actually wait for marriage): They have a parent whos not embarassed that they have tits or a cock...or they find a "decent" boyfriend, and start sucking down that yogurt.   My understanding of what happened is that she had sex in front of her daughter. Now, excuse me, but im pretture sure its not molestation when you NEVER TOUCH HER BODY. There was no abuse there! The only way that harm really would have come from it, is if parental discretion wasnt there, which I clearly think most likely was present. Okay, maybe I wasn't clear.
